Ruth
Miller- Ruth
has been in the fitness industry since 1982.
She was certified through the American Council of
Exercise (ACE ) as a group fitness instructor in 1986 which was
the first year it was offered.
ACE was the first national certifying body and set the
standard for those to follow.
In 1993 she was certified through ACE as a personal
trainer.
She taught at Emporia State University in
the PE Department through the spring of 2006. She has experience
teaching aerobic dance, yoga, kickboxing, and pilates.
She specializes working with “baby boomers”
and seniors but has worked with all ages.
Her mission statement whether teaching a
group or working one on one is “To give quality instruction that
is fun and safe yet effective workouts for participants and
clients”.
She has been a personal trainer at Emporia
Fitness since 1999.

Greg Bachman- Greg is actively involved in the health and
fitness industry. He is a physical therapist at Emporia Physical
Therapy where he specializes in orthopedic and sports
rehabilitation.
Greg teaches the TRX Suspension Training class,
which will resume in September. The emphasis of the class is to
promote a high level of physical health through education and
exercise. This class combines strength training, flexibility,
and conditioning. The TRX system allows each participating
member to work at an intensity appropriate to achieve their
individual goal. Each class is structured to allow participation
by adults of all ages.

Spencer Allen-
Emporia native Spencer Allen is a 2010 graduate of ESU with a
degree in Health Promotion. Spencer played basketball for 4
years at Emporia State University and was a member of the 2009
MIAA Tournament Runner-up team. He also played high school
basketball at Emporia High where he was voted to the All
Centennial League two years as well as the 2005 Emporia Gazette
All Area Team. Spencer teaches Golden Gear at Emporia
Fitness, a class designed specifically for seniors to help build
strength, stability and an overall improved level of fitness.

Casey Collins- Casey graduated from Emporia State University and
teaches math at Emporia High School. She ran track at ESU and
coached track and cross country at Emporia High School for
several years. Her interest in workout out and lifting weights
started in high school and has been a favorite hobby ever since.
Casey has taught Spinning classes at ESU before becoming a
fitness instructor at Emporia Fitness. She teaches Power Pump,
Spinning and TRX classes at Emporia Fitness. |

Karla Reimer- Karla is married and has two college-aged sons. She has
lived in Emporia for 18 years. Is a Registered Dental Hygienist
since 1987 and currently works for Hannah Orthodontics in town.
Received her Pilate’s Certification in 2004 and has taught at
the Emporia Recreation Center, Emporia State University and
Emporia Fitness. Enjoys reading, watching her sons play golf and
tennis and tropical vacations!

Erin
Blocker- Erin comes to Emporia Fitness most recently from
Canton, Missouri where she owned her own fitness studio, Fisico
Fitness & Dance, LLC. Erin’s experience teaching group and
private fitness classes includes Pilates, Yoga, Aerobics, Weight
Training, Spinning, Special Populations (50+/special needs
children & adults) and massage. She has worked as a personal
trainer and fitness professional and studied under various
professionals in both California and Missouri over the past 4
years. She received her M.S. Degree from ESU in 2010 and has
been training members at Emporia Fitness since 2010 as well!
Erin also coaches track & field at ESU and serves
as the vertical jumps coach for the Hornets. Erin is passionate
about fitness and helping individuals find and stick with
exercise modes that will continue throughout their lives.

Linda Turney-
Linda is a graduate from Emporia State University with
a degree in Business Administration.
She became an aerobic dance instructor in 1990.
She also has experience teaching group fitness classes in
step, water aerobics, body sculpting and cardio kickboxing.
She became a certified Pilates instructor in 2003.
She loves the total body experience that Pilates offers
to individuals of all different fitness levels.
She currently teaches Intermediate Pilates, an advanced
class for those who have experience with previous Pilate’s
classes.

Carrie Poersch- Carrie started teaching group fitness classes
in 2003. Carrie has taught Step Aerobics, Body Sculpting and a
Seniors fitness class. In 2007, she became certified in PiYo and
has been teaching PiYo since 2008. She loves yoga and sharing
the many benefits of it through her classes.

Amy
Hayden- Amy has been active in the Fitness Industry,
instructing Step Aerobics, Body Sculpting classes and a fitness
class for Seniors since 2003.
In 2007 Amy discovered Zumba Fitness,
giving her the opportunity to fill her passion for fitness,
dance and music. She has attended two Zumba Basics Fitness
Certifications and a Zumba Basics (Level 2) Certification. Also,
is a member of the Zumba Instructors Network.
In March 2010, she started instructing
HoopDance Fitness classes and is currently working on becoming a
Certified Hoop Instructor. She loves combining Fitness & Fun,
taking the “work” out of working out and making it an adventure.
Amy is the mother of 3 very active boys,
and wants to be an inspiration to her children to always stay
active and healthy.

Bev
Hinrichs- Bev has worked in the Emporia fitness industry
since 2000. Her experience includes step, HI/LOW, kickboxing,
Zumba and body sculpting classes. She currently teaches Body
Blast, a muscle building class focusing on core strength and
body sculpting. She has also worked at a personal trainer since
2005 with a variety of age levels and fitness goals including
marathon and half marathon running and walking training.
Bev keeps busy as an elementary teacher and
mother of 2 great boys. She enjoys running half marathons best
and generally runs at least 2 a year. This fall she will be
training her eldest son who has challenged himself to run his
first half marathon.
